Zone Design is 9 years old today! This is no joke – we started business on April 1 2006.
It all started with our first client Diversey (now Sealed Air) and involved a fair amount of packaging, artwork and channel marketing. Through the retention of a key relationship and experience in trade marketing, we ‘chinged’ glasses with our second major client - Carlsberg . We’ve enjoyed sampling that account - responsibly of course! This is where our specialism in Food and Beverage began, and continued to grow through the production of well-considered creativity and design. In 2008, Zone purchased Dynamite Design and with that we sweetened our client list with PepsiCo and Mondelez (formerly Cadbury and Kraft). The tasty treats continued...
In our first year of business (2006) we won a pitch for Advocate, an animal health product produced by Bayer. At the time we could have only dreamed we would eventually manage the entire range of products produced by Bayer Animal Health. Dreams do come true. How did we do this? Through nurturing relationships, listening to our clients and promising excellence in creativity. This has resulted in numerous awards through the Veterinary Marketing Association, and a huge number of pets living happier lives too. (Everyone say Aaaaah…!)
Adding to our specialism in Healthcare, Nutricia (part of Danone) tracked us down in 2013 - Nutricia makes specialist nutritional products for paediatrics. This business also came because a client moved companies and wanted to work with an agency he trusted and knew would make a difference.
So far it’s animals, babies and beer! Quite a diverse combination...
We must mention our boss, Lord Robin Horrex (the Lord title is a recent acquisition!). He won the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2011 – putting Zone on the proverbial map. Talking of maps, we understand he owns a couple of square metres of land somewhere up north - being an alleged entrepreneur he’s now looking at ways to monitise this!
In 2012 Zone spiced things up a little with the acquisition of Social UK Ltd (now Ever After) and the formation of MBC Group. Ever After specialises in the Lifestyle sector and helps balance the Group’s portfolio of flavours. MBC Group has a focused business strategy and amalgamates talent, resources and processes. It proudly champions UK creativity, harnessing highly creative and business-minded people.
The main thing we’ve always believed in, and the one thing that will never change; Our clients value business-changing creativity – so that’s what we live and breathe every day.
It’s taken us a while but we feel like we’ve hit a sweet spot with our range of clients, our specialisms and talent. We’ve also added millions of pounds to the bottom lines of our clients - making a really serious difference.
